Negros Daily Bulletin photojournalist Owen S. Bayog clinched the third top honors in the recently-concluded Philippine National Games photo contest co-sponsored with the Negros Press Club.
“It was a moving, inspiring sight for me to see people who are physically-challenged doing their best in sports,” he said in describing his entry which shows three paralympic runners in the 200-meter race.
Bayog was the lone photographer during the event taken at the Panaad Park and Stadium where the athletics competition were being held.
The NDB lensman, who has been shooting for the paper for more than two years now, said dedication is key to a great shot.
“I waited for four hours for this; the opportunity finally presented itself,” he added.
Bayog’s entry was adjudged third among more than a 100 images of Manila and local photojournalists that were judged last May 29 at the Grand Regal Hotel in Bacolod City.
NPC President John Elmer Ubaldo and several officials of the Philippine Sports Commission were among the members of the board of judges
He came in second after Tom Guevarra who shoots for a Manila tabloid.
Coming in first was also a BacoleƱo, Ronnie Baldonado.
